In the book, Rosling suggests the vast majority of human beings are wrong about the state of the world. “Hans Rosling tells the story of ‘the secret silent miracle of human progress’ as only he can. But Factfulness does much more than that. It also explains why progress is so often secret and silent and teaches readers how to see it clearly.” ―Melinda Gates

Hans Rosling wrote this book when he was on his deathbed, diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer. The only thing that made this drastic change in his personal "Factfulness" is one of the most influential books published in 2018. Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World – and Why Things Are Better Than You Think is a 2018 book by Swedish statistician Hans Rosling with his son Ola Rosling and daughter-in-law Anna Rosling Rönnlund. In the book, Rosling suggests the vast majority of human beings are wrong about the state of the world.
But we’re inclined to worry about everything all the time because of the way news and media portray such views to us. In Factfulness, professor of International Health and global Ted phenomenon Hans Rosling offers a radical new explanation of why this happens and reveals the ten instincts that distort our perspective.
Ola Rosling and Anna Rosling Rönnlund, Han’s son and daughter-in-law, are coauthors of the book.

In Factfulness, Professor of International Health and a man who can make data sing, Hans Rosling, together with his two long-time collaborators Anna and Ola, offers a radical new explanation of why this happens, and reveals the ten instincts that distort our perspective. To paraphrase Rosling, the urgency instinct served us well in the past. For example, if we thought there might be a lion in the grass, it wasn’t sensible to do too much analysis. But now that we have eliminated most immediate dangers and are left with more complex and often more abstract problems, the urgency instinct can lead us astray when it comes to our understanding of the world around us. Professor Rosling passed away in February 2017 but his legacy is carried on by the Gapminder Foundation and the book Factfulness, co-written by his son Ola Rosling and his daughter–in-law Anna Factfulness is the skill to recognise the common types of stories that tend to get all the attention because they trigger our dramatic instincts.
